Discovering dining gems in Asia

With less than 2 weeks to the announcement of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2017, Aspire Lifestyles takes a look at some of these awarded restaurants and other gastronomic finds on our Global Preferred Restaurant program. These cities were selected for housing the most number of awarded restaurants in 2016 and we shall see if they will remain winners soon!

BANGKOK

L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon Bangkok

L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon Bangkok is a unique dining concept which sets itself apart from other L’Atelier branches. Unlike a formal Françoise diner, guests are seated around a large open kitchen, in full view of expert chefs creating and working on their cuisine. It is truly an experience as diners are part of the action and fully immersed in their gastronomic adventure

Aspire Lifestyles has exclusive privileges such as priority reservations and best-tables-guarantee. There is also the complimentary option to book their private dining room, with a minimum spend. Lunch sets start at 950THB while the dinner tasting menu is priced at 5,000THB and 7,500THB with wine pairing options available.

Gaggan

Voted Asia’s No. 1 Restaurant for 2 consecutive years, Gaggan is a restaurant which categorises its cuisine as “progressive Indian”. When you enter the enchanting white colonial house that houses Gaggan, there is not a hint of Indian influence in its getup. Instead, you are greeted with white washed walls, greenery and glass walkways. The restaurant is currently only serving a Gaggan tasting menu priced at THB4,000 that is largely based on molecular gastronomy. The use of syringes, liquid nitrogen should not surprise you too much as that is part of the dining experience. Chef Gaggan aims to not only appeal to your stomachs, but also to awaken that inner creative soul within each of his guest.

Nahm

Nahm Located on the ground floor of Metropolitan Hotel on Sathorn Road, the decor combines a tasteful mix of gold and blue Thai styled brick columns with latticed wooden screens that help achieve an intimate dining experience. Guests may dine on the terrace which looks out at the relaxing pool or within the cosy interiors. Helmed by executive chef David Thompson, who is no stranger to Thai dining scene, he combines traditional ingredients to create modern Thai dishes that please the crowd. Open for both lunch and dinner, you can enjoy a casual fine meal or opt for the Nahm Tasting menu at THB2,500 for a full experience.

HONG KONG / MACAU

The Tasting Room, Macau

As an acclaimed French restaurant with two Michelin Stars, The Tasting Room promises a gastronomic adventure away from the bustle of the casino scene. Born of Chef Guillaume Galliot’s belief in purity, the French menu is homage to nature and a celebration of the freshest ingredients sourced from around the world.

There are tasting menus for both lunch and dinner, starting prices competitively priced at approx. USD55 and USD450 respectively. Aspire Lifestyles has exclusive privileges such as priority reservations and a complimentary glass of champagne for both lunch and dinner.

Mott 32, Hong Kong

Putting the spotlight on quality ingredients and traditional recipes, Mott 32 represents a new chapter of Chinese dining scene in Hong Kong. Named after the famed convenience store on 32 Mott Street in New York, the restaurant captures the dynamism of NYC’s vibrant Chinatown and the bravery of its immigrants. Their farm-to-table philosophy means Chinese food can now be enjoyed in a rustic and honest way. Set in an expansive space in the heart of Central, Hong Kong, the restaurant was beautifully designed in conjunction with award-winning architect Joyce Wang. The bar offers innovative cocktails, wines and various sakes.

The Continental, Hong Kong

Inspired by the sophisticated charm of Europe’s grand cafés, The Continental presents a menu of lovingly refined dishes. Each dish is created in response to pure ingredients presented beautifully.

The restaurant is open for lunch, afternoon tea and dinner every day, and brunch on the weekends. While the bar is a great place to meet throughout the day for a cocktail or a class of wine, the terrace is the perfect space to unwind.

SINGAPORE

Les Amis

Les Amis, the French translation of “the friends”, is born out of the love of food by its founders since 1994. One of the pioneers of the fine dining scene in Singapore, Les Amis has come a long way in proving its philosophy and commitment to making French fare accessible to a discerning audience.

Now helmed by Executive Chef Sebastien Lepinoy, Les Amis is enjoying its fair share in the limelight having been awarded 2 Michelin stars and ranking No.12 on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2016. You can enjoy their Express Lunch menu that starts from S$65 or Dinner Classique menu that starts from S$185. It’s worth a note that Aspire Lifestyles’ privilege includes a complimentary glass of Champagne for each diner at dinner.

JAAN

Derived from the ancient Sanskrit word for ‘bowl’, JAAN is an intimate, 40-seat restaurant dedicated to showcasing the finest in modern French cuisine in Singapore. The artisanal menu by Chef de Cuisine Kirk Westaway – winner of the S. Pellegrino Young Chef 2015 for Southeast Asia, is built around a passion for showcasing the freshest ingredients through simple but beautiful dishes that reflect both culinary tradition and creativity.

This one Michelin star restaurant is also Krug’s First Restaurant Ambassade in Singapore. Make a date with someone special and ask for their special Krug pairing menu which includes Krug 2000/ 2002/2003, Krug Rosé and Krug GC.

La Ventana

Taste a slice of Barcelona in the heart of Singapore with famed Michelin starred Chef Carles Gaig’s cuisine at La Ventana, Dempsey Road. Housed in a beautiful colonial house in the lush greenery, you can indulge in traditional Spanish classics from paella to cannelloni.

Remember to save space for dessert as their famed Catalan Crème Brulee is a must-try at this restaurant. Aspire Lifestyles privileges include a surprise tapas with every booking.
